Werewolf: The Apocalypse

Act 2
A Prayer for those Left Behind

Returning to Calgary the pack is met with a hostile Sticks who admonishes their behaviour. He reminds them that they ran off while asking for little information or resources. Glass Walkers and Bone Gnawers have already been attacked by Black Spiral Dancers and the Wyrm’s presence is stronger than ever.

The pack decides to speak with Zero about the mission and the disappearance of Naoki’s sister. Sticks gives them the address for Zerotech. A wealthy cybernetics manufacturer run by its namesake. At the front door they are greeted by Zaphro an artificial intelligence created by Zero to be his doorman and jack-of-all-trades lieutenant. Zaphro is sharp witted and disdainful towards the living and trades several verbal barbs with the pack.

They then meet Zero who is upset at their failure and becomes violent towards Naoki when his betrayal is discovered. He challenges Naoki to defend himself but instead Abbath intervenes and fights Zero on his behalf. As Zero shifts to his Crinos form the group is astonished to find he is a cyborg-wolf. A never before seen melding of cybernetics and Garou. Abbath is quickly overwhelmed in the fight. However Zero respects the packs cohesiveness and resigns to forgive Naoki.

A deal is struck where Zero will help the Pack in their struggles against the Black Spiral Dancers, unfortunately he has no intel as to the location of Naoki’s sister. He provides a Van for them to travel in, a 1990 Aerostar. However once inside they are dismayed to find the Van is fitted with a copy of the Zaphro program, who finds them as distasteful company.

Black Spiral Dancers VS Bane

The two factions stand in an abandoned warehouse – Black Spiral Dancers and Bane – meeting for the first time. The physically imposing Dancers dwarf most of the Bane with the exception of a four armed cleaver wielding beast who stands at the side of Bane in charge. She has long black hair which coils around her legs and despite her slight stature obviously commands the attention of the bane.

“It is good to meet at last, we have been looking forward to this,” her voice a triad of a whispy woman, a sick child and a deep guttural presence.

“I am sure this day will be one to remember,” a familiar voice.

Wyrm-Takes-Last steps forward, out from the ranks of the Dancers.

“The Wyrm has long desired an ally like you.”

“Is that what you think we are?”

“Aren’t you?”

Tension bleeds thickly into the air. Dancer and Bane already both feel a difference between them.

“We are allies to no one. We owe you a debt of gratitude, but our agenda is our own.”

The woman hisses and four-armed cleaver wielding beast steps forward in challenge. Her his forms words as he brandishes his weapons.

“That is not the deal we worked out. We freed you. You serve us.”

Wyrm-Takes-Last chuckles.

“A bane. Upset at betrayal. Ironic.”

“I will give you one last chance to submit to the Wyrm you shadow of a Werewolf.”

Wyrm-Takes-Last steps forward sizing up the four-armed Bane and bares his teeth.

“Very well… let’s see how this plays out,” he says.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

The Pack fights their way to the Caern and through to the other side only to find a mass of nearly one hundred Black Spiral Dancers who thank the pack for opening the Caern and allowing them access to the North Saskatchewan River. They beat the pack senseless and a wounded Wyrm-Takes-Last insists that he is leaving them alive because he can kill them “anytime he wants.”

Beaten, broken and having failed their mission the pack returns to Calgary with nothing but bad news. The White Howlers tribe is now extinct, changed into the Black Spiral Dancers. The only survivor Walks-No-Roads is lost and left behind.

While conversing it becomes apparent that a traitor has been working against them the whole time. Allowing the Bane in Edmonton to beat them to Caern and the Black Spiral Dancers access to southern Alberta. Eventually Naoki confesses to being the traitor and breaks into tears of shame – his sister has been kidnapped and he has been forced to betray the pack.

However in solidarity the pack agrees to help him search for her – refusing to betray their brother in return.

The Umbra

After being dumping Grimhide in the snow Jaxxon Fiercestalker is confronted by Wyrm-Takes-Last and attemps to strike a deal. The Black Spiral Dancer seems mildly interested in what he has to offer and allows him to live.

Meanwhile a near death Grimhide finds himself in another world. Dark black surrounds him and he finds he is walking on top of a black liquid, his foot steps leaving ripples. After some difficulty he encounters a powerful Umbra Spirit named Calls-No-Truce – a former Alpha of the Get-of-Fenris.

Calls-No-Truce chastises Grimhide for his poor leadership so far and warns of Jaxxon’s betrayal. He also admonishes the use of silver edged weapons by the group, suggesting that they make the pack weaker. With a final challenge for Grimhide to rise and conquer his enemies Calls-No-Truce restores Grimhide to consciousness and heals his wounds.

In a fearsome showdown this time Grimhide bests Wyrm-Takes-Last and wounds him gravely forcing his retreat. In a moment of compassion he then forgives Jaxxon for his weakness and the two rejoin the pack.

Episode 5
Faith no More

The Caern is a bridge to the town of No Roads – the former home of the White Howlers. The tribe is thought to be extinct and the abandoned town supports the idea. Ominously quiet, there are no bodies or graves marking a mass extinction in the town. Upon further inspection journal entries suggest that many of the Garou in this village started to suffer a mental madness. Strange cryptic writings and symbols are found inside some of the houses. Phrases such as…

Gaia save your sinful children__

adorn the walls.

After much searching the group holes up in one of the abandoned houses as night begins to fall. Strange sounds are heard in the nearby wilderness – howling that is Garou-like, only changed, distorted.

A figure is noticed in the distance and the pack chases it only to find it is a woman. She says her name is Walks-No-Roads and that she is the last surviving Garou of the town. The rest of the Garou have become perversions of Gaia.

Howling comes in from all sides and the pack attempts to barricade themselves in the house. The source of the howling is revealed as the former residents of the town unveil themselves, the Black Spiral Dancers.

In a gambit to save the pack Grimhide engages their leader Wyrm-Takes-Last to one-on-one combat but is quickly overwhelmed in the battle. Gravely injured Grimhide is rendered unconscious and in desperation the pack scatters in an attempt to reconvene at the Cairn.

Cloudtooth eludes several Black Spiral Dancers drawing them away, allowing Jaxxon Fiercestalker to make off with Grimhide. With Wyrm-Takes-Last in pursuit and the rest of the pack out of sight, Jaxxon dumps Grimhide in the snow…

Episode 1
Sticks and the New Pack

The pack met for the first time at the request of Sticks in Banff Trail of Calgary. While there these Garou from seven different tribes were told about a mysterious re-discovered Caern west of Edmonton on the Sasketchewan River. The pack pledged to travel to the Caern and see why it is suddenly now active again.

An Alpha is Chosen

Before the pack could set out on their quest a pack Alpha had to be chosen. A competition was arranged by Sticks to pit the heroes against three warriors of his own and in the ensuing battle an Alpha would be chosen.

Abbath attempted to solidify his place as Alpha immediately and attacked Sticks outside of the rules of engagement. Sticks subdued him instantly and forbade he take part in the contest further.

The battle was fierce and Barry fell right at the start. As the heroes quickly began to overpower the Bone Gnawer warriors Jaxxon seized an opportunity to make a bid for Alpha and attacked Grimhide. However calling upon his great warrior strength Grimhide turned the tide and subdued Jaxxon in turn. Cloud Tooth – the other Garou still standing – chose not to pursue the Alpha title leaving Grimhide victorious.

Jaxxon was severely wounded and despite Ted’s healing his wounds were still grievous.

As the pack dispersed to attempt to find a way to travel North, they were arrested by police officers seemingly called to the scene from the noise. Several pack members ran while others surrendered. The surrendering Garou were shot as was Jaxxon who failed to scale a fence – further exacerbating his wounds. The police officers were revealed to be Bane posers – somebody knew about this meeting. The pack regrouped and slaughtered the Bane Officers commandeering their unmarked cruiser.
